June 4, 2018, marks the start of the fourteenth year of the Science Internship Program.
Comprised of ten tracks (
Applied Medicine,
Creative Learning,
Health Horizons,
Laboratory Medicine,
Nursing Care, Pharmacy,
Public Health,
Radiology,
Respiratory Care, and
Translational Medicine,) the Science Internship Program gives Northeast Ohio high school students in 11
th and 12
th grade the opportunity to learn and work alongside world-renowned caregivers at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus, Regional Hospitals, Family Health Centers, and Administrative Campuses.
Through their experiences in the internship program, students gain exposure to healthcare fields and careers, cultivate their 21
st century skill set through hands-on learning opportunities, and find practical, real-world applications for their academic knowledge.
This summer, 100 students from 56 high schools across Northeast Ohio will be participating in the program. These interns will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for nine consecutive weeks, and are expected to assist their mentor(s) with an IRB-approved research project. At the completion of the program, each intern will produce a research poster, PowerPoint presentation, and video summarizing the findings of their assigned research project.
