The goal of this poem is to expose the audience to the harsh physical standards that people with eating disorders hold themselves to. It was important for me to mention both anorexic behaviors and binge eating behaviors because people often forget that eating disorders don’t always stem from someone who is trying to lose weight. I wanted to end the poem on a hopeful note because it’s important to recognize that someone’s potential has no correlation with their looks.
