I chose to interpret Rachel Rafferty's project, "A Five-Year Retrospective Review of the Mortality of the Transmetatarsal Amputations," because I am continually intrigued by the field of surgery and driven to learn more about the complictions that can arise. Rafferty aimed to prove that certain comorbidities correlate with the mortality status of patients who underwent leg and foot amputations. In creating this eXpressions project, I hope to further prove that this correlation exists. I also hope that finding a correlation will lead to greater knowledge about the impact of preventable comorbidities and will increase patient survival.
