After I read the study on “Bone Structure and Weight at Time of Restoration of Menses in Amenorrheic Youth With Eating Disorders,” I felt drawn to the topic. The main character in the poem is narrating, through her eyes, the struggles of eating disorders. Just like the information presented in Meredith Modlin’s study, the doctors are trying to restart the character’s menstrual cycle, which was lost due to her eating disorder. The size of the texts represents the narrator’s representation of body size. I chose to literally represent the character’s views on body size so the reader can visualize how she truly feels about her body.
